Irish Society for Theatre Research
The Irish Society for Theatre Research was constituted on 14 April 2007. It was born with the aim of facilitating research on theatre and performance in Ireland in its national and international contexts.
ISTR aims to facilitate interdisciplinary research between theatre studies in Ireland and the wider community of theatre and performance studies in its international contexts. In meeting these objectives we place ourselves at the intersection between theory and practice and in doing so connect with and further support the wider theatre and arts sector.
We work to support and promote research by organising an annual conference and occasional symposia. We also provide a platform for members to publish research. See ISTR Publications. We also seek to support early career researchers through subject-specific masterclasses at annual conferences and the hosting of our New Scholars’ Prize.
Full details of ISTR’s Executive Committee can be found here.
Individual membership of ISTR is open to any person who undertakes to promote the work and support the objectives of ISTR and who accepts the Constitution.
