Dr Alinne Fernandes

Dr Alinne Balduino P. Fernandes (she/her) is Senior Lecturer in English at Universidade
Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. She has been the Director of Núcleo de Estudos
Irlandeses -NEI (UFSC’s Irish Studies Centre) since 2020. She is also the coordinator of the
Radio Drama Lab, sponsored by Brazil’s national council CNPq – Universal research grant. In
2023, she was the recipient of CNPq’s Productivity Award. She has edited Teorias da
Tradução de 1990 a 2019 (EdUFSC, 2023, in Brazilian Portuguese), co-edited Theatre,
Performance and Commemoration (Methuen 2023, with Miriam Haughton and Pieter
Verstraete), and Raízes Feministas em Tradução (Ed. Câmara dos Deputados, in press, with
Vanessa Hanes and Carolina Paganine, bilingual edition). She has also co-edited the
following journal special issues: ‘Artistic Collaborations’ for Ilha do Desterro (2018, with
Miriam Haughton and Maria Rita Viana) and ‘Theatre Translators’ for Cadernos de Tradução
(2023, with Ruth Bohunovsky). She has translated a number of plays by Irish and Northern
Irish women playwrights, including Marina Carr’s By the Bog of Cats…, Stacey Gregg’s
Override, and Patricia Burke-Brogan’s Eclipsed, to name a few.
