Conversations on Collaborations
Waterford Institute of Technology
Friday 22nd & Saturday 23rd April 2016
CALL FOR CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
Theatre facilitates polyphonic and dialogic collaborations across time, culture and artistic discipline and ISTRatWIT 2016 aims to create a forum for practitioners and researchers of all disciplines to explore and share ideas and practice that celebrate and bewail the joys and agonies of collaborative theatre ‘conversations’.
Participants are invited to contribute to a conversation that considers how acts of collaboration, initiated by performing arts practitioners and/or researchers, embrace and/or reject the idea of polyphonic co-creation and develop, question and disrupt national and international conversations. Abstracts considering collaborative approaches to theory; methodology; technology; meaning making; practice; performance; audience development, and teaching and learning are particularly welcome and, in the spirit of embracing the idea of a truly polyphonic conversation, the panel encourages participants to initiate new conversational threads in addition to those proposed here.
ISTRatWIT 2016 is open to performing arts practitioners and researchers from all countries; performers of all genres and techniques, theatre directors, musicians, theatre designers, playwrights, performing arts academics, arts educators and teachers, theatre critics, arts journalists etc. The organising panel invites proposals from scholars at all points in their career and especially encourages proposals from postgraduate researchers. Topics that might provide a springboard for the conversation in April 2016 include, but are not limited to:
- Collaboration and innovation
- Collaboration and the ‘practice turn’ – implications for drama, theatre and performance studies
- Methodologies of collaboration
- Cracks in collaboration
- Community collaborations
- Learning collaborations
- Technological collaborations
- Inter-cultural collaborations
